About the Role:
ZEP-RE is seeking a proactive and results-oriented professional to serve as Key Account Manager for our Malawi market. This pivotal role focuses on managing key client relationships, driving business development initiatives, and supporting the growth of ZEP-RE’s market presence in Malawi. The ideal candidate will have solid experience in (re)insurance underwriting, client relationship management, and business growth, with a strong commitment to delivering value and impact within the region.

Job Details
Key Responsibilities:
1. Business Development & Market Expansion
- Lead marketing and business development initiatives across cedants, brokers, and regional partners.
- Identify new business opportunities, track industry trends, and implement strategies to grow market share and profitability.
2. Underwriting & Portfolio Management
- Oversee underwriting and pricing for treaty and facultative business, ensuring disciplined risk management.
- Manage renewals, client retention, and portfolio performance for sustainable profitability.
3. Business & Contract Administration
- Supervise contract setup, facultative and retrocession bookings, and overall office administration.
- Support internal audits and ensure accurate and timely reporting to head office.
4. Premium Collection & Financial Management
- Drive timely premium collection and reconciliation through proactive client engagement.
- Ensure financial discipline and sound underwriting practices that align with company risk appetite.
5. Client & Stakeholder Engagement
- Build and maintain strong relationships with cedants, brokers, regulators, and government agencies.
- Represent ZEP-RE at key industry forums, conferences, and events to enhance brand visibility and stakeholder trust.
6. Claims & Risk Management
- Collaborate with the claims team to manage complex or delayed claims efficiently.
- Support proactive risk management strategies to safeguard portfolio quality.
7. Strategic Planning & Governance
- Contribute to business planning, performance reporting, and strategic reviews.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and foster a culture of integrity, accountability, and innovation.
Requirements
Minimum Requirements:
- A Master’s degree in Insurance, Risk Management, Actuarial Science, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
- Professional qualifications such as ACII,AIISA (or equivalent) is highly desirable.
- 5–7 years’ progressive experience in reinsurance underwriting, business development, or key account management.
- Proven track record in business growth, client relationship management, and portfolio performance.
- Strong understanding of reinsurance markets, products, and regulatory frameworks.
- Demonstrated ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders and drive results.
