Job Summary

ZEP-RE is seeking a highly analytical and results driven Portfolio Manager to join our team. This role is ideal for a seasoned investment professional with strong global market insight and a proven ability to manage diverse investment portfolios. As a Portfolio Manager, you will be responsible for conducting rigorous global economic research and independently managing investment transactions across both traditional and alternative asset classes. The role requires strong analytical capability to generate actionable insights that inform investment strategy and decision making. The Portfolio Manager will play a critical role in ensuring robust due diligence and delivering high quality investment recommendations to senior leadership and investment committees

Job Details

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 
A.    Economic & Industry Research
i.    Conduct in-depth global macroeconomic and industry research to identify trends, risks, and opportunities relevant to the organization’s strategy.
ii.    Produce flagship reports on market outlooks (investment and insurance ecosystem) with actionable implications for strategic decision-making and asset allocation. 


B.    Pipeline Sourcing and Investment Due Diligence
i.    Lead transaction lifecycle due diligence for investment opportunities across public markets, private markets, and alternative asset classes.
ii.    Lead the assessment of financial models, business plans and all relevant risk metrics for new investments.
iii.    Coordinate with the relevant stakeholders: Internal (ESG, Risk, Finance, Legal, Operations) and external stakeholders to ensure transactions meet internal standards.
iv.    Prepare and present investment recommendations to the investment committees and relevant stakeholders for approval.

 

C.    Portfolio Management
i.    Monitor performance of assigned investment portfolios and present tactical shifts to the investment committees and relevant stakeholders.
ii.    Monitoring transaction agreement deliverables, including conditions subsequent, commercial business agreements, growth and integration plans, among others.
iii.    Periodic valuation of investment portfolios to support portfolio monitoring and audits

 

D.    Data Analytical Insights
i.    Develop analytical frameworks and dashboards to enhance insight generation.
ii.    Analyze large financial and economic data and provide clear and actionable recommendations for decision-making.

 

Requirements

Minimum Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field.
  • Professional certification such as CFA or CAIA is highly desirable.
  • 7–10 years of relevant experience in investment banking, asset management, private equity, venture capital, or related investment roles.
  • Strong understanding of ESG principles and their integration across the investment lifecycle.
  • Proven experience working closely with C-suite executives and Investment Committees.
  • Demonstrated strengths in research, financial analysis, and project management.
  • Experience working in multicultural and cross-functional environments.
  • Proficiency in PowerPoint, Power BI, and market data platforms is an added advantage.

Key Relationships

Internal: Executive and Senior Management, Investment Committee, Portfolio Managers, Finance, ESG, Risk, and Legal teams.

External: Deal Sponsors, Advisors, Issuers, and Outsourced Portfolio Managers.

 

Work Environment

Office-based role located at the Head Office in Nairobi, Kenya.
